Western Fairfax Christian Ministries Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

info143217

WFCM has received $2,700 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The Feeding the Hungry grant supports WFCM’s efforts to provide fresh, healthy food options in its two client-choice food pantries for families to select during their monthly appointments. The grants are provided to support community feeding partners by helping neighbors increase their access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education to eliminate health risks for those experiencing food insecurity.

WFCM has two client-choice food pantries located in Chantilly and Centreville, where their clients select free, healthy food during appointments every 30 days. The value of the food is approximately $60 per person in the household to last two weeks. This helps meet the urgent food needs of the families they serve so they can use their incomes for rent and utility bills and focus on improving their financial stability without the fear of hunger. WFCM will use the grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to purchase fresh, healthy, culturally appropriate food items.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $18.1 million in grants.
