Job Title: Warehouse Assistant
Department: Client Operations
Reports To: Deputy Director
Job Status: Non-exempt, Hourly, Seasonal
Schedule: 15 hours per week – M/W – 9am-noon, T/F – 9am-11am, Th 9am-2pm
Tuesday after Labor Day – Last Thursday in May
General Statement of Duties:
The Warehouse Assistant drives the WFCM commercial van to pick up food/toiletries/resources from businesses and organizations including grocery/retail partners and makes deliveries of these resources to the Chantilly and Centreville Free Food Markets, satellite site refrigerators at schools and partners, and other destinations as needed. In addition, he/she assists with accepting and weighing donations, stocking shelves and refrigerators in the warehouse and markets and other preparation needed for deliveries/donations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares/packages food for community and satellite distributions and delivers to sites

Picks up food purchased/donated from grocery stores and local providers

Accepts and weighs donations and enters information on log
-
Ensures donated food is inspected and discarded if aged/spoiled
-
Provides data as requested regarding food distributions to communities and satellite sites to include photos, pounds of food provided, and any other qualitative and quantitative information requested

May assist with on-site garden maintenance

May assist with WFCM food collection and or distribution events

Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED
-
Willingness to work collaboratively with WFCM staff, volunteers, and donors
-
Agreement with the mission, vision and core values of WFCM and ability to communicate this mission to the public

Respect for the dignity and worth of all clients

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to prioritize work tasks

Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills

Ability to work both independently and in a team
-
Ability to use warehouse equipment including scales and pallet jack
-
Ability to meet “good driver” insurance requirements to be insured as a driver of the WFCM commercial vehicle(s) (5 years of driving experience required)

Ability to pass background checks, as applicable, with Fairfax County Public Schools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-
Able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
-
Able to stand for extended periods
